PennileX - Music From The Big Black

"And there will be no doubt about it", these X music files on the new Penniless album are great & tight, a high nine fist. Songs which Ossi Alisaari has described as his "Blood On The Tracks".

I The Core
II Far Away Country
III The Great Marquis
IV Demon Sign
V Dark Room
VI Anthem For The Suckers
VII Put Me In A Home
VIII Fearless
IX Shadows And Lights
= X Penniless

Thirty years, ten albums (three as Penniless People Of Bulgaria and on Penni Records, the last twenty years seven as Penniless and on A West Side Fabrication, well except for this brand new on Soit Se Silti).

But don't look for any nice piece of background information on the X cover. The name of the band and the album are only printed with small letters on the spine. Inside the sleeve you'll find the lyrics, which is a splendid surprise, regarding the layout "politics".

And then down right some other...

Apart from that, nothing at all. Nothing about who is playing what, doing this & that. No contacts to the band or the record company. This is a true mystery trip, an X album from top to toe. (Here commercialism is a far away country.)

This new CD is heavier stuff than A Cab To The City (2010) and Rows Of Houses (2013). According to the band, Penniless, there is also some kind of return to Joe (1998; the Roskilde door opener from two decades ago) and so it might be, it might sound like that.

On the other hand, the nine tracks on this tenth recording since 1993 rock like Penniless have always rocked. From this point of view, X is not a secret, it's a dear friend visiting after five silent years. A dear friend, but still not in same old clothes. Penniless seldom do the copy & paste.

Long time no hearing. But now is the moment: "you come with the colors"!
